Program Overview

The PEACE program is for children and youth ages 3-18 who have experienced violence in their homes. PEACE stands for Prevention, Education, Advocacy, Counselling and Empowerment and is a curriculum supported by the BC Society of Transition Houses.

It is a psycho-educational supportive counselling program that helps children and youth feel safe, respected, valued and heard. The group setting also reduces their isolation, and they come to know others who have experienced these challenges as well. This program has both a fall and spring intake. Dinner is provided for the family, and the non-offending caregiver is welcome to stay and be part of an informal peer support group with guest speakers and helpful connections to other local services.

Pre-registration is required, and referrals are recommended. Contact norma.armellini@salvationarmy.ca for upcoming program dates and more information.

The next PEACE program is planned for Spring 2026 – Starting April 14th
